Music for Children

This album of music for children was recorded in 1990 and still sounds fresh. The impetus to create it came from my sister sending me the lyrics for What Can I Dream Tonight?  This was a question her daughter would always ask when getting tucked into bed. I wrote a song, did a rough recording on cassette and shared it with my friends’ children.  They played it 20 times on the first day and their interest in the song continued so my friends pleaded with me to write some more. I realize now that this was so they did not have to listen to only one song over and over but at the time I took it as encouragement that I could write some appealing music for children

I enlisted the help of Peter Curry to produce the project and we had a joyous time experimenting and playing. Using some wonderful gear at another friend’s basement studio we came up with Coconut Tree.

The songs are upbeat and poppy and cover styles from folk to soca to jazz.

It was originally released on cassette and was re-mastered for CD in 2000.

While Coconut Tree has always been available it has enjoyed a wonderful resurgence since its release on CDBaby.com and iTunes.

It is available as a CD or as digital downloads from this site, CDBaby or  iTunes.
